Fine Grading — Surface Close-Up for Precision Grading
Describe the application, material route, growing or working area and proposed rental period. A listed scenario is not a claim that a Dugong rental unit or local service is available.
This reference assembles relevant extracts from the guide library. It is general project planning, not a local project report, verified specification or translated technical publication.
Precision Landforming
Precision landforming follows a designed surface rather than repeatedly smoothing whatever the operator sees. Its value lies in controlling where material is removed and placed relative to that surface.
Before moving material
Establish reliable survey control and a suitable design model.
Receiving operation and checks
Record the achieved surface before cultivation, compaction or construction. Check joins and breaklines where changes in slope are intentional.
Guidance accuracy alone does not prove the material or finished surface is suitable.

Fine grading removes smaller departures from the intended surface after the main quantities are close. Light controlled passes are more useful than repeatedly loading heavily through nearly finished ground.
Before moving material
Confirm that underlying formation and material are accepted.
Receiving operation and checks
Protect the corrected surface and schedule the next operation promptly. Inspect local depressions, edge ties and smooth changes in slope.
Fine grading is a geometric operation; it does not certify density or bearing capacity.

Rough grading establishes the broad shape; fine grading corrects the remaining smaller deviations. Trying to finish while bulk quantities are still wrong can waste passes and disturb completed areas. The changeover should occur when levels are close enough, materials are suitable and the receiving surface is ready for controlled trimming.
Before moving material
Complete major excavation and isolate unsuitable ground.
Receiving operation and checks
Protect the finished area from uncontrolled traffic and schedule the next layer. Check local levels and continuity through joins, not only the average elevation.
Fine grading cannot rescue a weak formation hidden beneath a neat finish.

Use this checklist to turn the scenario into a specific brief. Retain the design revision and agree who accepts each completed layer.
