Project reference 00288

Moving Soil 200 Metres

Describe the application, material route, growing or working area and proposed rental period. A listed scenario is not a claim that a Dugong rental unit or local service is available.

This reference assembles relevant extracts from the guide library. It is general project planning, not a local project report, verified specification or translated technical publication.

Airports & Dirt Runways

A rural airstrip is an aviation asset with requirements determined by its owner and applicable operating framework. Routine smoothing cannot substitute for the assessment of runway geometry, strength and drainage.

Before moving material

Agree the work scope with the airstrip owner and exclude aircraft operations.

Receiving operation and checks

Return the strip through the owner's inspection and release process. Check the work against the approved brief, including transitions and obstructions.

Do not use this guide as a runway-design standard or an assertion of aviation compliance.

Soil Redistribution

Soil redistribution moves existing material within an area rather than importing a complete new layer. It works best when the source material suits the receiving use and its movement does not damage the productive layer.

Before moving material

Inspect soil layers and mark areas to remain undisturbed.

Receiving operation and checks

Blend the corrected area and restore the required soil preparation. Check both the cut depth and the final receiving level.

Unsuitable or contaminated material should not be spread simply to achieve a visual finish.

Design to Dirt

A drawing becomes useful in the field when its levels, coordinates and version are understood by the people and equipment doing the work. A design may be correct while the machine follows the wrong datum or an outdated file. Resolve that transfer before soil moves.

Before moving material

Agree the coordinate system, vertical datum, benchmark and drawing revision.

Receiving operation and checks

Record changes and return the verified surface information to the designer. Retain the issued design and the as-built check as separate records.

Do not infer a surveyed boundary or certified design from an illustrative terrain model.

Record the job inputs

Use this checklist to turn the scenario into a specific brief. Retain the design revision and agree who accepts each completed layer.

Checklist ticks apply only while this page is open. Include the completed brief in your project records.
